Yemen: Cunto-yarida oo gaadhay heer khatar ah iyo abaar ka dhalatay El Niño
Warbixin kooban oo ku saabsan xaaladda suuqa iyo ganacsiga Yemen bisha Juun 2026
In ka badan 53% dadka Yemen ayaa la saadaalinayaa inay ku sugan yihiin heerka IPC Phase 3+ (Dhibaato ama ka sii darran). Waddanku wuxuu haystaa culeyska ugu sarreeya adduunka ee xaaladaha IPC Phase 4 (Degdeg). Nidaamka dhaqaale ee dalku waa mid aad u liita.
Nuglaanshaha Cuntada iyo Ku-tiirsanaanta Beeraha
In ka badan 60% qoysaska reer miyiga ah ee Yemen waxay ku tiirsan yihiin beeraha si ay u badbaadaan noloshooda. Tan iyo heerka nuglaanshaha cuntada ee sare, dhowr shaqo-joojin oo dhaqaale ayaa xaaladda sii xumeeyay.
Lacag-ururin aad u yar ayaa la helay, iyadoo qiyaastii 14% la maalgeliyay ilaa bisha Juun 2026. Hoos-u-dhac lacageed, awood iibsasho oo liidata, iyo carqalad ganacsi oo mara marinnada Hormuz iyo Badda Cas ayaa dhibaatooyin ah.
Saamaynta Cimilada iyo Abaarta Kharif
Shock cimo xun oo El Niño ah ayaa si firfircoon u xannibaya roobabka Kharif ee Yemen inta u dhaxaysa July-September 2026. Moodallo cimilo ayaa saadaalinaya inay jirto >70% u badan roobab ka hooseeya caadiga qaranka oo dhan.
Aagagga beeraha koonfurta, bartamaha iyo galbeedka ayaa la kulma >80% qasaaraha roobabka iyo kulayl xad-dhaaf ah. Abaartu waxay khatar gelinaysaa dalagyada badaha iyo khudaarta Kharif, waxayna dardar gelinaysaa burburka daaqa xoolaha.
Baahi Degdeg ah iyo Gobernoraadka Mudnaanta leh
Qaybta qoysaska beeraha ee u baahan gargaar degdeg ah ayaa la saadaalinayaa inay kacdo min 36% ilaa 55%. Tani waxay muujinaysaa baahi degdeg ah ka hor bartamaha Ogosto 2026 si loo joojiyo hoos-u-dhac weyn.
Gobernoraadka mudnaanta leh sida Al Hudaydah, Taizz, Ibb, Dhamar iyo Al Mahwit ayaa u baahan tallaabo degdeg ah. Haddii aan la dhexgalin, xaaladdu waxay sii xumaan kartaa meelahaas muhiimka ah.
Over half of Yemen's population is projected in crisis-level food insecurity amid climate and economic shocks
Yemen is experiencing a critical surge in acute food insecurity, with over 53% of its population projected in IPC Phase 3+ and the world's highest burden of IPC Phase 4 conditions. More than 60% of rural households rely on agriculture for survival as multiple shocks converge.
Economic and Trade Disruptions Compound Vulnerability
Yemen's fragile food system is strained by severe macro-economic shocks. Critical funding gaps leave approximately 14% of required aid funded as of June 2026, limiting response capacity. Currency depreciation and weak purchasing power further restrict household access to food.
Trade disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea are undermining market stability. These combined pressures intensify the baseline vulnerability of rural communities that depend on agriculture, leaving them exposed to further deterioration without urgent support.
Climate Shock Suppresses Monsoon and Crops
An impending El Niño climate shock is actively suppressing the Yemeni Kharif monsoon through July–September 2026. Meteorological models project a greater than 70% probability of below-normal rainfall nationwide during this period, deepening agricultural stress.
Southern, central, and western zones face over 80% rainfall deficits and extreme heat. The drought threatens primary Kharif cereal and vegetable crops and accelerates livestock pasture degradation, pushing the share of agricultural households needing emergency aid from 36% to 55%.
Urgent Action Needed Before Mid-August
The converging crises create an urgent requirement before mid-August 2026 to prevent further significant deterioration. Priority governorates include Al Hudaydah, Taizz, Ibb, Dhamar, and Al Mahwit, where conditions are most acute.
Without timely intervention, food insecurity and agricultural collapse will accelerate across these areas. Coordinated assistance is essential to protect rural livelihoods and stabilize food access ahead of the projected rainfall deficits.
