Isbedelka Cimilada iyo Xaaladda Badda
Qorshayaasha wacyigelinta cimilada ee dowladda Mareykanka iyo Jaamacadda Colorado State University ayaa sheegay in muddada 2026-ka ee mareegaha ay tahay mid ka yar tii caadiga ahayd.
Jeff Berardelli, wuxuu sheegay in badda Gulfka ay tahay mid aad u qabow, taas oo ka dhigaysa inay noqoto mid aad u fudud inay mareegaha sii xoogaysato.

Tropical Storm Bertha made landfall in Southeastern Louisiana early Wednesday morning, bringing storm surge and winds up to 60 mph, though forecasters say the system is unlikely to intensify further.
Storm Landfall and Forecast Outlook
Tropical Storm Bertha came ashore in Southeastern Louisiana early Wednesday morning, delivering up to three feet of storm surge and winds reaching 60 miles per hour. A tropical storm watch has been in effect for New Orleans and the southern Gulf Coast of Louisiana since 4 p.m. Tuesday, while a coastal flood warning covers Mississippi and Louisiana coastlines.
Weather models do not predict the storm will strengthen further. Strong wind shear from the northeast is preventing intensification and will push the bulk of the weather offshore, reducing rainfall totals. Jamie Rhome, deputy director of the National Hurricane Center, said Louisiana could dodge some of the worst impacts as long as conditions hold.
Warm Waters and Hurricane Season Trends
Forecasts from the National Hurricane Center and Colorado State University predict fewer storms than average during the 2026 hurricane season, driven in part by a strong El Niño pattern. Jeff Berardelli, chief meteorologist at WFLA-TV in Tampa Bay, noted that unusually warm Gulf waters act as high-octane fuel for storms, even as overall storm counts decline.
In the last 30 years, while the number of hurricanes has decreased, the percentage of powerful category 4 and 5 storms has increased. Phil Klotzbach, a senior researcher at Colorado State University, said warmer waters tend to load the dice toward stronger storms, even if fewer systems form.
Preparing for the 2026 Hurricane Season
Ready.gov, a site run by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, advises residents to make an evacuation plan ahead of time and know where to go in an emergency. People should also consider elderly and disabled neighbors who may need assistance during a disaster.
Homeowners should check their insurance coverage and deductible, document valuables, and maintain up-to-date records for filing claims. Jamie Rhome cautioned that people should not underestimate the potential power of the 2026 season just because El Niño is expected to limit storm numbers.
