Dab ka dillaacay xudduudda Jarmalka oo qasbaday Belgium, kumaan qaxooti ah ayaa guuray
Dabkii ugu weynaa ee la diiwaangeliyo ee Belgium ayaa gubtay kumaan hektar, waxaana la geeyay diyaarado biyo ku qufacaya
Belgium waxay la dagaallamaysaa dabkii ugu weynaa ee kaydka taariikhdeeda oo qabsaday ilaa 2,700 hektar (6,700 acre) ee meesha dabiiciga ah ee High Fens ee u dhow xudduudda Jarmalka. Dabku wuxuu ku soo dhawaaday 3 kiiloomitir (2 mayl) oo u jirta xudduudda, waxaana qaxay ilaa 600 deganayaal.
Dabka iyo qaxitaanka dadweynaha
Dabku wuxuu qaraxay Jimcihii, wuxuuna si xawli ah ugu faafay dhulka peatland-ka iyo kaymaha geedaha pine-ka. Maamulka ayaa amray qaxitaanka qiyaastii 600 deganayaal ee deegaannada Waimes, Sourbrodt iyo Buetgenbach iyagoo ka baqay in dabku gaadho guryaha markii dabayshu rogtay oo qiiqii kordhay.
David Rodolfs, milkiiliha maqaayad ku taal Waimes, ayaa AFP u sheegay: "You can't see a thing anymore, there's smoke everywhere." Nicolas Yernaux, af-hayeenka maamulka gobolka Wallonia, wuxuu yidhi: "There is a risk that the fire could reach homes, but we are deploying all available resources to protect them".
Dagaalka dabka iyo gargaarka caalamiga ah
Midowga Yurub wuxuu diray saddex helikobtar iyo laba diyaaradood oo biyo ku qufacaya, Belgiumna waxay kordhisay dab-demiye. Belgium waxay hawlgelisay nidaamka ilaalinta madaniga ah ee EU, iyadoo ka keenaysay Czech Republic, Sweden iyo Netherlands.
Dab-demiye ka yimid Jarmalka iyo Luxembourg ayaa ku biiray tallaabada, beeraleyduna waxay caawinayeen waraabinta dhulka. Bernard Quintin, Wasiirka Arrimaha Gudaha Belgium, ayaa AFP u sheegay inuu naxay baaxadda iyo xawliga dabka.
Digniinaha Jarmalka iyo isbeddelka cimilada
Monschau ee gobolka Eifel ee Jarmalka, oo 2 kiiloomitir u jirta xudduudda, ayaa dadka digay inay isdiyaariyaan qaxitaan. Magaaladu waxay leedahay 12,000 deganayaal, waxaana laga digay qiiqa; waxay 23 km u jirtaa dab kale oo eray 2,000 qaxsiisay.
Kulaylka ayaa gaaray 37°C (98.6°F) qaybo ka mid ah Belgium. Hadja Lahbib, Komishanka Yurub, ayaa tiri: "Never before has the wildfire season started so early in the year and reached such northern latitudes," iyadoo ku tilmaamtay "climate upheaval".
Belgium is fighting its largest wildfire on record, with flames consuming thousands of hectares in the High Fens nature reserve and forcing the evacuation of around 600 residents as the blaze approaches the German border.
Massive Blaze Forces Emergency Evacuations
The wildfire, which broke out on Friday, has already scorched approximately 2,700 hectares of peatlands and pine forests in the eastern High Fens nature reserve. Belgian Interior Minister Bernard Quintin expressed shock at the fire's rapid spread and the extent of the destruction caused by the blaze.
Authorities ordered the evacuation of around 600 residents in parts of Waimes, Sourbrodt and Buetgenbach as shifting winds and heavy smoke raised concerns that the fire could reach homes. A gymnasium in a neighboring municipality was opened to provide shelter for displaced residents.
International Firefighting Efforts Underway
Belgium activated the EU's civil protection mechanism, bringing in three helicopters and two water-bombing aircraft from the Czech Republic, Sweden and the Netherlands. Firefighters from Germany and Luxembourg have also joined the response, while farmers helped emergency crews by wetting down the area.
Regional authorities in Wallonia confirmed that all available resources are being deployed to protect homes, though difficult terrain has hampered ground operations and forced firefighters to allow some inaccessible areas to burn.
Smoke Threatens German Border Communities
The fire has approached within 3 kilometers of the German border, prompting authorities in the town of Monschau to warn residents to prepare for possible evacuation. Monschau, a major tourist attraction with around 12,000 residents, has seen health warnings issued due to smoke dangers.
European Commissioner Hadja Lahbib described the blaze as the latest sign of 'climate upheaval' affecting the continent, noting that wildfire seasons are starting earlier and reaching further north than ever before.
