Tom Homan oo baaraya howsha xaqiijinta oofficer-ka ICE ka dambeeyay toogashada Maine
Qiimeyn gudaha ah ayaa socota ka dib markii qaraabo ay daaha ka qaadeen taariikhda caafimaadka dhimirka ee sarkaalka
Tom Homan ayaa sheegay in howsha xaqiijinta sarkaalka socdaalka ee ku lug lahaa toogashadii dilaysay ee Maine ay hoos timaadaa dib-u-eegis gudaha ah. Qaraabada sarkaalka ayaa AP u sheegtay in uu lahaa taariikh dhibaatooyin dhimir iyo dabeecad rabshad ah.
Baaritaanka iyo Hadalka Homan
Tom Homan wuxuu ku yiri CNN: 'The training is under review. I know this specific case, as far as the vetting, is under review by the internal affairs section.' Wuxuu sidoo kale xaqiijiyay in sarkaalka ku lugta leh uu yahay David Brouillette, oo ah mudane hore oo ciidanka Army.
Homan wuxuu yidhi haddii eedeymaha ka dhanka ah sarkaalka ICE ay run yihiin, 'I don't think he should ever have cleared vetting.' DHS ma aysan jawaabin dalabka faallo ee axadii ku saabsan dib-u-eegista gudaha.
Amarada iyo Kamaamka Jirka
Markwayne Mullin oo ah Xoghayaha DHS ayaa amar ku bixiyay hakad ku yimaada joojinta baabuurta ka dib toogashadii Maine, laakiin Trump ayaa isla markiiba dib u rogay oo ku adkaystay in la sii wado.
David Venturella oo ah agaasimaha ku xigeenka ICE ayaa soo saaray tilmaamo cusub oo ah in kamaradaha jirka ay khasab tahay in la isticmaalo. Homan wuxuu yidhi: 'Right now, on all vehicle stops, there's at least one body camera on site to record the entire event'.
Wakiillada iyo Cabashooyinka
Xildhibaannada ayaa loo sheegay kulankii albaabka xidhanaa in ay jiraan 56 cabasho oo ku saabsan xad-gudub xoog ah oo ka dhan ah saraakiisha ICE, 32 ayaa la nadiifiyay, midna loo gudbiyay tallaabo edbin. Weli cunaqabateyn lama soo saarin.
Senator Susan Collins oo Maine ka tirsan ayaa dhiirigeliyay isticmaalka kamaradaha jirka oo ay maalgelisay. Waxay tiri waa 'extremely unfortunate' in sarkaalka toogashada uusan kamarad wadin.
The vetting of an immigration officer involved in the deadly shooting of a Colombian native in Maine is under internal review, according to border czar Tom Homan. The officer's relatives said he had mental health and violence history. Homan questioned the clearance.
Internal review and officer background
Tom Homan stated that the vetting of the officer in the Maine shooting is being examined by the internal affairs section. He said on CNN: "The training is under review. I know this specific case, as far as the vetting, is under review by the internal affairs section."
The officer is Army veteran David Brouillette. His relatives told The Associated Press he had a history of serious mental health struggles and violent behaviour. Homan said: "if the allegations against the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer are true, I don't think he should ever have cleared vetting."
Policy shifts after shooting
Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin ordered a pause in vehicle stops after the Maine shooting. President Trump almost immediately reversed course and insisted the stops resume as a necessary tool to round up and deport immigrants without legal status.
Acting ICE director David Venturella issued a directive that body cameras must be used during vehicle stops. Homan said: "Right now, on all vehicle stops, there's at least one body camera on site to record the entire event." DHS did not comment Sunday on the review.
Lawmaker concerns and complaints
Lawmakers were told in a closed briefing of 56 excessive force complaints against ICE officers: 32 cleared, one referred for discipline. No discipline had been handed out yet. Republican Senator Susan Collins of Maine pushed for cameras and funded the effort.
Collins said it was "extremely unfortunate" the shooting officer in her state was not using a camera. The briefing left some lawmakers with unanswered questions about DHS training and tactics under Trump's deportation campaign.
