12 Qof oo Ku Dhaawacmay Dab Ka Kacay Tareenka Shaqada ee Saldhigga Astor Place
Dab ayaa qiiq culus ku faafiyay saldhigga East Village, adeeggii tareenada u dhownaa waa la hakiyay
Talaadadii la soo dhaafay ayaa dab ka kacay tareen shaqo oo marayay nidaamka tareenada dhulka hoostiisa ee New York City, kaas oo qiiq culus ku faafiyay saldhigga Astor Place ee East Village. Waxaa dhaawacmay 12 qof, adeeggii u dhownaa waa la hakiyay.
Qiiqa iyo Dhaawacyada Shaqaalaha
Dabku wuxuu si baahsan u soo saaray qiiq culus oo gaaray heerka waddada iyo heerka saldhigga. Sarkaalka FDNY Tom Currao ayaa sheegay: "A lot of heavy smoke, not only at street level but also at the station level."
Dabka ayaa sababay dhaawac soo gaaray ugu yaraan toddobo shaqaale oo MTA ah oo neefta qiiqa qaaday, iyo shan dab-demiye oo sidoo kale dhaawacmay. Wadar ahaan 12 qof ayaa dhaawacmay marka la isu geeyo dhacdadaas.
Badbaadinta Rakaabka iyo Gaadiidka
Markii uu dabku qabsaday tareenka shaqada, tareen woqooyi u socday ayaa yimid saldhigga oo uu soo degsiiyay rakaabkiisa. Dab-demiyeyaashu waxay caawiyay badbaadinta dadka oo ay xaqiijinayeen inuusan midna dhaawacmin.
Adeeggii tareenada u dhowaa waa la hakiyay, waxaana la filayay dib-u-dhac ku yimaada tareenada 4 iyo 6 ee Brooklyn u janjeera. Tani waxay saamaysay qaabka socodka tareenada ee aaggaas ku xeeran.
Dib-u-soo-celinta Adeegga
Mas'uuliyiinta MTA waxay rajeynayeen in la dhaqaaqo tareenka oo adeegga la soo celiyo waqtiga loo tago shaqada subaxda. FDNY ayaa sheegay in tareenku yahay mid koronto ku shaqeeya oo si degdeg ah loo dhaqaaqi karo.
Currao wuxuu yidhi: "As soon as the fire department clears the train, we should be able to move that train, because it's an electrical unit and get it out of the way relatively quick." Wuxuu intaa ku daray: "There will be residual delays but we are actually in place to start morning service, rush hour traffic."
A blaze on a maintenance train traveling through the New York City subway system on Tuesday sent thick smoke billowing through the Astor Place station in Manhattan's East Village, injuring 12 people and suspending nearby service.
Smoke Fills Station as Service Disrupted
The fire erupted on a work train moving through the underground network, releasing heavy smoke that filled both the street-level and station-level areas of Astor Place. FDNY Assistant Chief Tom Currao described the scene during a press conference, noting the intensity of the smoke that overwhelmed the area.
As the blaze took hold, a northbound passenger train arrived at the station and its riders were quickly evacuated. Firefighters rushed to assist the passengers, ensuring everyone reached safety without any injuries among them.
Workers and Firefighters Among the Injured
At least seven MTA subway workers were treated for smoke inhalation, while five firefighters also sustained injuries during their efforts to combat the fire. The incident left a dozen people in need of medical attention, according to the Fire Department.
The city's emergency notification system warned commuters to expect delays on Brooklyn-bound 4 and 6 trains as crews worked to clear the scene and restore normal operations.
Efforts Underway to Restore Service
MTA officials expressed hope that the train could be moved and service restored in time for the morning commute. Currao explained that because the train is an electrical unit, it could be cleared from the tracks relatively quickly once the fire department finished its work.
He acknowledged that residual delays would persist but confirmed that crews were positioned to begin morning service and handle rush hour traffic as soon as the area was cleared.
