Kaya, diir walrus ah, oo ku dhalatay Abu Dhabi taariikh loo sameeyay
Kaya waa diirka ugu horreeya ee walrus ah ee ku dhasha Bariga Dhexe ama Waqooyiga Afrika
Kaya, oo ah diir walrus ah oo laba bilood jir ah, ayaa taariikh dhigay iyadoo noqotay mootada ugu horreysa ee walrus ah ee ku dhalata Bariga Dhexe ama Waqooyiga Afrika. Waxay joogtaa SeaWorld Abu Dhabi oo ku taal Yas Island.
Korriinka iyo Daryeelka Kaya
Kaya waxay hadda tahay laba bilood jir waxaana lagu hayaa SeaWorld Abu Dhabi. Sida ay sheegeen mas'uuliyiinta, waxay helaysaa daryeel dhammaystiran oo ay weheliyaan shaqaalaha iyo hooyadeed. Waxay kasbataa miisaan ku dhow hal kiilo maalintii.
Walruses-ka qaangaarka ah waxay caadi ahaan miisaankoodu gaaraa ilaa 1.5 tan. Xilliga uurka ee xayawaankan badeed wuxuu dhowr yahay 15 bilood, waxaana la socday hooyadeed Smooshi intii ay uurka lahayd.
Hooyada iyo Bulshada Walrus-ka
Smooshi, oo ah hooyada Kaya, waa 23 sano jir. Waxay qayb ka tahay koox ka kooban shan walrus ah oo ku sugan SeaWorld Abu Dhabi. Scott McCoy, oo ah agaasimaha sare ee xayawaanka badeed ee xarunta, ayaa xogtaas sheegay.
Walruses-ka waa xayawaan aad u bulsho jecel. McCoy wuxuu yiri: "Smooshi is 23-years- old, and prior to Kaya's arrival, her life here at SeaWorld Abu Dhabi was very different. She's part of a population of walruses that are in total are five." Wuxuu intaa ku daray: "Walruses are very social animals, she spent a lot of time with her trainers, playing, learning, and doing fun enriching things."
Deegaanka Xarunta iyo Noocyada Kale
Kaya waxay ku biirtay noocyo kale oo xayawaan ah sida penguins-ka iyo dolphins-ka ee ku sugan xarunta Yas Island. SeaWorld Abu Dhabi waa meesha ay ku nool yihiin shanta walrus iyo noocyadaas kale ee la ilaalinayo.
In kasta oo walruses-ka ay caadi ahaan degan yihiin agagaarka Cirifka Waqooyi iyo Badweynta Arctic, haddana Kaya iyo kuwa kale waxay helaan guri badbaado ah oo ku yaal Abu Dhabi. Tani waxay muujinaysaa horumarka xanaanada xayawaanka.
Two-month-old Kaya marks a regional zoological milestone under the care of her mother Smooshi
A two-month-old walrus calf named Kaya has become the first of her species born in the Middle East or North Africa. She resides at SeaWorld Abu Dhabi on Yas Island, where she is gaining nearly a kilo per day under specialist care.
Historic birth and facility context
Kaya is the first walrus calf born in the Middle East or North Africa, a milestone for the region's zoological record. She lives at SeaWorld Abu Dhabi on Yas Island, a facility that also houses species including penguins and dolphins alongside the new calf.
The park is home to five walruses in total. Kaya's mother is Smooshi, aged 23, who is part of that group. The birth follows a gestation period of around 15 months typical for marine mammals of this type, monitored closely by specialists.
Care and species behaviour
Scott McCoy, senior zoological director at SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, noted the calf's birth is a major milestone for the zoological industry. He stated: "Smooshi is 23-years- old, and prior to Kaya's arrival, her life here at SeaWorld Abu Dhabi was very different. She's part of a population of walruses that are in total are five."
McCoy added: "Walruses are very social animals, she spent a lot of time with her trainers, playing, learning, and doing fun enriching things." Since Kaya's arrival, Smooshi bonded quickly and became focused on teaching her calf. Adult walruses typically weigh up to 1.5 tonnes.
Growth and social bond
Kaya gains nearly a kilo per day and will grow toward the typical adult walrus weight of up to 1.5 tonnes. Her mother Smooshi, now described as the teacher, ensures the calf learns behaviours from her own life at the facility.
McCoy said of the change: "She's now the teacher, so she's very focused on her calf and making sure that her calf learns all the things that Smooshi learned throughout her life." The pair's bond reflects the social nature of walruses observed at the park.
