The Emir described the Gulf crisis as the cumulative result of years of delay, crisis management through temporary fixes, and unrealistic policies. He warned that the chance for a realistic and peaceful diplomatic solution must not be squandered.
Qatar remains convinced the crisis can be resolved through reopening the Strait of Hormuz to navigation and a return to negotiations between Iran and the United States.
Palestine: A Blind Spot in International Order
The Emir described the destruction of Gaza as genocide, in every sense the word carries, and a stain on the conscience of all humanity. He said it is not credible to speak of a just international order while Palestine remains such a blind spot.
He stressed that curbing the harm caused by Israel and reining in its conduct outside the law is the real test by which the international community will prove its seriousness in upholding values and the rule of law.
Support for Syria, Sudan, Lebanon and Yemen
Sheikh Tamim affirmed that Qatar stands with the Syrian people during their recovery and reconstruction, and supports State institutions, sovereignty, independence and national and territorial unity.
On Sudan, he called for a comprehensive dialogue leading to lasting peace. On Lebanon, Qatar supports its sovereignty and stresses the need to abide by the ceasefire and Security Council resolution 1701. Qatar also supports UN efforts to reach a comprehensive political settlement in Yemen.
