The President said there is no shortage of words or resolutions, but what is lacking is consequences. He argued that the UN has become a tool for anarchy and tyranny rather than a guardian of international order, and that its failure to enforce past decisions has eroded its legitimacy in the eyes of nations that expect accountability.
The Falklands Dispute and the Sea Lion Project
Turning to the Falkland Islands, which Milei called a national cause, he criticized the UN for not enforcing resolution 31/49, adopted 50 years ago, while unilateral changes continued on the territory. He stated that the Sea Lion project is moving towards oil extraction on the Argentine continental shelf under British licenses that Argentina rejects as illegal and illegitimate.
Argentina has submitted protests, sanctioned companies involved in oil extraction on the disputed continental shelf and sent a sovereignty defense bill to Congress. The President repeated Buenos Aires' position that self-determination does not apply in this case, since the population was implanted by the occupying power on a territory whose sovereignty is in dispute, and called on the United Kingdom to resume negotiations.
Pandemic Lockdowns and a Bold AI Vision
