Lenovo has revealed a proof-of-concept laptop at IFA Berlin 2026 that dispenses with fans entirely, relying on pressurised air to keep the processor cool. The 10 mm-thin, 1.8-pound machine uses Frore Systems' AirJet Mini technology to push heat out the back of the chassis.
How the Fanless Cooling Works
The AirJet Mini module draws ambient air inside the laptop to generate 2,000 Pascals of back pressure, equivalent to roughly 124 miles per hour. That high-speed air is spread across a copper base layer through tiny jets, disrupting the boundary layer that normally causes heat buildup and throttling.
Each AirJet module can produce 10 times the back pressure of a standard laptop fan while consuming the same power. Lenovo calls the system the Active Flow Thermal Solution and says it is debris- and water-resistant, making it more durable than conventional cooling.
Design and Specifications
The engineering sample features a magnesium-aluminium body, an OLED screen and USB-C ports that support Thunderbolt 4. It runs an Intel Lunar Lake processor and the cooling system can handle up to 20 watts of thermal design power, though a more powerful AirJet Pro variant also exists.
Lenovo described the unit as a 'very mature and refined product in terms of sample stability.' The laptop is so light that it makes current ultrabooks like the Asus Zenbook A14 and MacBook Air feel noticeably heavier by comparison.
What We Still Do Not Know
Lenovo did not reveal any details on battery life, pricing or availability. The company also did not confirm whether the AeroBlade design will appear in a future variant of its existing laptops or mini PCs.
Alongside the AeroBlade, Lenovo showcased Project Swan, a rollable gaming laptop that expands from 14 to 17 inches with the push of a button. At 3.5 pounds, the Swan is heavier but uses fewer, more durable motors.
