Google has unveiled a major update to its AI agent CC, repositioning it as a household management tool designed to help families coordinate schedules, tasks, and communications through a single intelligent assistant.
From Productivity Tool to Family Coordinator
CC originally launched as a productivity agent that connected to Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Drive to deliver daily briefings. In May, it appeared in the Gemini app as Daily Brief before Google pivoted its focus entirely toward family needs.
The shift came after user feedback revealed strong demand for household management capabilities, prompting Google to transform CC into a dedicated family agent that helps run everyday household operations.
How CC Manages Family Life
Each family member can choose which emails to share with CC, including messages about school events, sports, clubs, and appointments. Users can also select senders like schools and travel companies for automatic forwarding, while CC suggests new contacts weekly.
The agent tracks important dates and to-dos, automatically adding them to shared calendars or task lists. It can also fill out permission slips, create shopping lists, plan meals, calculate drive times, and build shared documents on behalf of the family.
Access and Limitations
CC currently supports up to six family members and runs on an isolated cloud computer powered by Gemini and Google's Antigravity framework. The experiment is available only to U.S. users with personal Gmail accounts aged 18 and above.
Existing users will be invited to upgrade via email in the coming days, while new users can join a waitlist. The age restriction means tweens and teens cannot use the service unless they misrepresent their age, limiting access for many school-connected families.
