The process works bidirectionally: users can initiate sharing from AirDrop on an iPhone, provided the Android device is set to receive from any other device. On Pixel phones, this is managed under Connection preferences, while Samsung Galaxy users select it via Connected devices.
Additional Sharing Methods and Limitations
Google has also introduced a QR-code-based option for sharing from Android to iOS, accessible through Quick Share. On the iPhone side, users can scan the QR code with their camera to access a Google web address for downloading shared files. Transferred files remain in the cloud for 24 hours before being securely deleted and do not count toward Google Drive storage quota.
Users can share up to 1,000 files in a single session, with a maximum of 20 iPhones, iPads, or Macs supported. However, Bluetooth cannot be used for wireless file transfers on iPhones due to Apple's restrictions, though accessories like wireless earbuds remain functional.
