Five years ago, the then 12-year-old Frodin was chosen as a tennis-playing body double for the actress cast as Serena Williams in the Oscar-nominated film King Richard. She worked alongside actor Will Smith, who portrayed Richard Williams, the father of the Williams sisters, for a few days a week over a period of six months.

Frodin described the experience as super special, saying she was honoured to play the role of somebody she had looked up to for her whole life. She noted that Serena was one of the players she admired most when she was starting to play, and that she remains a huge inspiration to her.

Rising Through the Ranks to the Grand Slam

The 17-year-old earned a wildcard into this year's US Open women's singles competition by winning the USTA Girls' 18s National Championships, just as Venus Williams has done. Her journey includes reaching the semi-finals of the Australian Open girls' singles and making her qualifying debut on the WTA Tour as a wildcard in Miami.

In her first meeting with a player ranked inside the top-100, Frodin lost to Viktorija Golubic in three sets. Despite the challenge, she has quickly secured her maiden appearance at the sport's highest level, now ranked 580th in the world.

Facing the World Number Two in New York

Frodin will be drawn against world number two Elena Rybakina, a two-time major winner and the reigning Australian Open champion, in what she calls the biggest match of her life. She is trying to stay in the moment and enjoy the opportunity to have fun and see what she can do in the loud atmosphere of the US Open.

She expressed that to be standing there and getting a chance to play in the main draw means everything. Frodin also hopes that if she gets a chance to hit with or meet the Williams sisters during the tournament, it would be incredible and a dream come true.
