Townsend and Siniakova lost the opening three games and the first set before rallying to win 5-7, 6-0, 6-2. The top seeds recovered from an uncharacteristic error when the ball dropped between them, then took control with aggressive net play.
Siniakova guided her partner through the rough start, and the duo found their rhythm to close out the match. Townsend, who had been knocked out in singles by No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, expressed relief and joy at the result.
Townsend's Fourth Major and Siniakova's 12th Title
This victory marked Townsend's fourth major championship, following her wins at Wimbledon in 2024, the Australian Open in 2025, and the French Open earlier in 2026. It was Siniakova's 12th Grand Slam title, seven of which came with Barbora Krejcikova and one with Coco Gauff.
Townsend said, 'If flipping the script had a face, you'd see my face.' Siniakova asked, 'Next year, you have three and I have two?' setting the stage for future ambitions.
Wild-Card Pair Delivers an Impressive Run
Krueger and Montgomery, ranked 570th and 610th in doubles, defeated defending champions Erin Routliffe and Gabriela Dabrowski in the quarterfinals and semifinals. The pair reunited five years after winning the US Open girls' doubles title in 2021.
Montgomery said, 'What we've just done has been amazing. I think we did forget that we were offered a wild card, so I'm just glad we made good use of it.' Townsend, who had sipped the Honey Deuce cocktail after losing in 2025, carried one in each hand this time.
