Alexander Isak had just six touches in the first half and zero shots but made up for it with the first equaliser on the hour mark with his ninth touch. Virgil van Dijk was furious with how easily Liverpool's backline was cut open for Ndoye's opener and the ease with which Forest won their penalty.

Forest resilience and Liverpool substitutions

Ola Aina was relentless all game and nearly created a goal for Forest, while Jair Cunha had a strong performance but should have done better for Isak's goal. Nikola Milenkovic was part of a Forest backline that initially made it incredibly hard for Liverpool to break them down.
