Tababaraha Dodgers Dave Roberts ayaa sheegay in jirro ka jirto jilibka bidix iyo murqaha cududda midig ee ciyaaryahanka Shohei Ohtani.
Shohei Ohtani wuxuu wali xanuun ka dareemayaa jilibkiisa bidix ka dib fadhi-gacmeedkii ugu dambeeyay, halka Los Angeles Dodgers aysan hubin inuu Axadda ku soo laaban doono wareegga bilowga. Roberts wuxuu yiri "I don't think he's 100%."
Xaaladda Caafimaadka iyo Tababbarka
Ohtani ayaa 30 kubbadood gacan ku tuuray ciyaar la ekaysiiyay toddoba maalmood ka hor, wuxuuna qorsheeyay inuu mar kale buurta fuulo bilowgii usbuuca xigay inta kooxdu ku sugneyd Atlanta. Laakiin fadhi-gacmeedkii waxaa loo dhigay Jimcaha oo kaliya 20 kubbadood qaaday, 10 ilaa 15 tuurid oo ka yar sidii caadiga ahayd.
Roberts wuxuu sheegay in Ohtani uusan wali gebi ahaanba caafimaad qabaan, jilibka bidixna uu ka fogeeyay kubbadda tan iyo July 3. Dhibaatada murqaha cududda midig ee toddobaadyo ka hor soo baxday weli ma taggin, wuxuuna Roberts yiri "the overall body" waa mid xanuunsan.
Qiimaha Uu Leeyahay Kooxda
Marka uu caafimaad qabo, Ohtani wuxuu ahaa mid ka mid ah kuwa ugu fiican: 8-2 iyo 1.79 ERA 14 kulan, 95 batir oo shaqada laga saaray, 26 socod oo la siiyay 85⅔ saacadood ilaa saddexda bilood ee ugu horreysa. Qiimihiisa weerarka ayaa ka muhiimsan, Tarik Skubal, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell iyo Tyler Glasnow ayaa sameynaya afar-qof oo xooggan.
Roberts wuxuu yiri "His value offensively is hugely important, and so we can't compromise that in any fashion." Wuxuuna intaa ku daray "If throwing potentially cuts into that, that's not worth the squeeze." Tani waxay muujinaysaa in laga yaabo in gacanta tuurista uu carqaladeeyo doorkiisa weerarka.
Qorshaha Axadda iyo Mustaqbalka
Haddii Ohtani uu Axadda bilaabo, wuxuu tuurayaa kaliya dhabta koowaad, taasoo siinaysa shan wareeg ka hor xilliga caadiga ah. Laakiin Roberts wuxuu leeyahay in xitaa markaas gaarista shan dhibcood ay tahay "aggressive for anyone," wuuna aan filayn 100% caafimaad jilibka ah xilligan.
Roberts wuxuu yiri "But there's a lot of pitchers that are not 100% and still viable," isagoo kusoo gaba gabeeyay "It's just not an exact science." Wuxuu sidoo kale waydiiyay "If he's not 100% overall body, is it worth giving him a minute to build up or not?"
Shohei Ohtani continues to feel discomfort in his left knee following a shortened bullpen session, leaving the Los Angeles Dodgers unsure whether he will make his anticipated return to the starting rotation this Sunday.
A Shortened Session Raises Doubts
Ohtani's return to pitching appeared promising seven days ago when he threw 30 pitches in a simulated game, but that bullpen session was pushed to Friday and lasted only 20 pitches, 10 to 15 throws shorter than his typical between-starts routine. The following day, manager Dave Roberts reported that Ohtani is still not completely healthy, with his left knee continuing to irritate him since July 3.
The right biceps issue that flared up several weeks ago still hasn't completely gone away, and Roberts said 'the overall body' is sore too. Roberts questioned whether it is worth giving Ohtani a minute to build up if he is not 100% overall, noting that the situation is complex and not an exact science.
Offensive Value Takes Priority
Ohtani operated like one of the best pitchers in the sport when healthy, going 8-2 with a 1.79 ERA in 14 starts, striking out 95 batters and issuing 26 walks in 85⅔ innings through the first three months of this season. However, his impact at the top of the lineup is even more important, especially with Tarik Skubal, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow easily making up a formidable four-man postseason rotation without him.
Roberts emphasized that Ohtani's offensive value is hugely important and cannot be compromised in any fashion. If throwing potentially cuts into that, it is not worth the squeeze, and Roberts noted that there are many pitchers who are not 100% but still viable, making the decision difficult.
Sunday's Game Could Be Limited
If Ohtani were to start Sunday, he would pitch only the first inning, giving him five turns through the rotation before the end of the regular season. Even in that scenario, reaching five innings is 'aggressive for anyone,' and Roberts does not foresee Ohtani getting to 100% health with his left knee while pitching at any point this season.
The extra roster spot allows Ohtani to essentially rehab in a major league setting, as he did while coming back from a second elbow surgery last summer. If he does not start, Glasnow would simply start the series finale against the Tigers, keeping the team's rotation intact.
