Good Good Golf's CEO Matt Kendrick and president Joe Flannery have both left the company after a controversial advertisement sparked widespread condemnation and a cascade of professional consequences for the golf content brand.
Leadership Exodus and Interim Succession
In a memo to staff, executive Alex Puchala confirmed that CEO Matt Kendrick, who had led the company since 2020, and president Joe Flannery have both stepped down. Nahid Giga, a co-founder of Good Good Golf, will now serve as interim CEO to guide the organization through this turbulent period.
Kendrick told Front Office Sports that he did not see the ad before it was published, yet he publicly accepted responsibility for the error. His statement, 'We made a mistake, and as CEO of Good Good, I own it,' underscored the gravity of the situation even as he later criticized Callaway's handling of the crisis.
The Controversial Advertisement and Its Content
The ad, which was quickly deleted by both Good Good and Callaway after going viral, depicted a man shoving a woman to the ground as she reached for his new Callaway driver. The individuals involved, Garrett Clark and Alexis Miestowski, are among the 12 content creators who form the core of Good Good Golf, a brand that launched as a YouTube channel in 2020.
Criticism focused on the ad's portrayal of violence against women, prompting swift removal from official accounts. Despite the deletion, clips continued to circulate on social media, fueling further outrage and accelerating the brand's downward spiral in the golf industry.
Widespread Fallout Across Golf Industry Partners
The fallout extended far beyond the ad itself. Callaway ended its partnership with Good Good Golf, which had been in place since 2023, while the company also stepped away from its sponsorship of a PGA Tour tournament in November. National retailers including Dick's Sporting Goods and Golf Galaxy removed Good Good Golf apparel from their shelves.
Golf Channel further distanced itself by deciding not to air the reboot of its popular 'Big Break' series after partnering with the brand. The combined effect of these departures has severely damaged Good Good Golf's standing in the golf content and merchandise landscape.
