Cameron produced one of her finest professional displays to defeat Mayer by unanimous decision, with scores of 97-93 on two cards and 96-94 on the third. The British fighter remained unbeaten since her second encounter with Katie Taylor in 2023, extending her record to 23 wins in 24 professional fights.

Mayer was the more imposing figure early on, but Cameron played counterpuncher until she could get onto the front foot. She forced Mayer against the ropes in round four and again at the start of the fifth, increasing her confidence as the fight progressed.

Mayer's Frustration and the Ring Walk

Mayer was bleeding and breathing heavily by round six, with a big right to the chin in round seven being the most notable blow of the fight. Despite being cut in the final rounds, Cameron pushed through and was lifted shoulder high by her team before the announcement of her biggest win since beating Taylor in Dublin three years ago.

The fighters butted heads at Friday's weigh-in at BP Pulse Arena, with previously cordial relations boiling over. On fight night, Mayer entered the ring to American Woman by Lenny Kravitz and wore a black durag over her trademark blonde hair, before removing it to show tight dreadlocks, the same style as Cameron.

MVP's Fifth Anniversary and Future Plans

The event marked the fifth anniversary of Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), the promoters fronted by Jake Paul, who was in the house as a watching brief. This was Cameron's first fight at BP Pulse Arena since November 2024, and her first since her much-lauded move to MVP.

MVP's next women's boxing arena event will take place in November in Texas, headlined by unified super-featherweight champion Alycia Baumgardner facing Elif Nur Turhan at lightweight. World championship fights on the undercard will include featherweight champion Tiara Brown defending against former undisputed champion Ellie Scotney.
