Baaritaanka iyo hadalka mas'uuliyiinta
Kooxda argagixisada diidan ee ka kooban Victoria Police, AFP iyo ASIO ayaa sheegtay in dhacdadu tahay mid loo baarayo argagixiso, "potentially orchestrated by far-left extremists with anarchist and revolutionary ideologies". Tani waa markii ugu horreysay ee Australiya baarto argagixiso bidixeed.
Anthony Hall oo ka tirsan AFP ayaa yiri "We clearly have some information about these alleged offenders and are focused on identifying who they are". Wuxuu kaloo yiri "We cannot overstate the seriousness of this criminality and the AFP, together with our partners, will not tolerate acts of terror motivated by extremist ideologies aiming to cause fear and anguish in our community".
Walaaca korodhka fikradaha xagjirka ah
Mike Burgess oo ah Agaasimaha Guud ee ASIO ayaa ku yiri hadalkiisii Lowy Institute in "While nationalist and racist violent extremists make up the significant majority of our investigations into ideologically motivated extremism, events in the Middle East triggered a troubling increase in anarchist and revolutionary extremism, which is also straining cohesion". Wuxuu kaloo xusay korodhka mudaharaadada.
Bishii la soo dhaafay Marco Rubio ayaa martiqaaday shir Washington DC oo ku saabsan argagixisada bidixeed. Australiya waxaa matalay sarkaal safaarad ah, laakiin ilo xukuumadeed ayaa sheegay inaysan jirin xiriir u dhexeeya tan iyo ololaha Trump.
Authorities in Victoria are investigating an arson attack on Lovitt Industries as a potential far-left terror act, marking the first such inquiry in Australia linked to anarchist and revolutionary ideology.
Attack Details and Suspect Video
In July 2025, three vehicles were set alight and a building was graffitied at Lovitt Industries, a defence manufacturer based in Melbourne's north-east. A video subsequently emerged from a group claiming responsibility, linking the attack to the Israel-Gaza conflict and issuing a threat to 'stop arming Israel or else'.
A speaker in the video, dressed in black and standing before a Palestinian flag, alleged that Lovitt Technologies was targeted for supplying parts to the global F-35 fighter jet program. The video also included instructions on how to construct similar firebombs used in the arson attack.
Investigation and Law Enforcement Response
The counter-terror team, comprising officers from Victoria Police, the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and ASIO, has released images from the video and the attack to identify suspects. AFP Detective Superintendent Anthony Hall stated that police have information about the alleged offenders and are focused on identifying them.
Hall emphasised the gravity of the incident, stating that the AFP and its partners will not tolerate acts of terror motivated by extremist ideologies aiming to cause fear and anguish in the community.
Broader Context on Far-Left Extremism
ASIO Director General Mike Burgess warned in a speech to the Lowy Institute that events in the Middle East triggered a troubling increase in anarchist and revolutionary extremism. Since October 2023, there have been more provocative protests and a notable uptick in intentionally disruptive and damaging tactics by anti-Israel activists.
Last month, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio hosted a summit in Washington DC calling for countries to collaborate on countering the growing threat of far-left terror. Australia was represented at the conference by an embassy official, with a government source saying the assessment was made on its own merits.
