Warbixinta Qaramada Midoobay ee Musuqmaasuqa: Johnson waxay sheegaysaa in tallaabooyinka degdegga ah ay u baahan yihiin
Warbixin cusub oo ka soo baxday Qaramada Midoobay ayaa sheegaysa in adduunku uu ku dhaqaaqayo 1.5 qalab Celsi oo ka badan heerka horumarka, iyadoo xilligan ay tahay in la qaado tallaabooyin degdeg ah. Ayana Elizabeth Johnson, xirfadlayaasha horumarinta deegaanka, waxay sheegtay in xalka uu jiro laakiin waqtigu uu yaraaday.
Warbixinta Qaramada Midoobay iyo Khataraha Deegaanka
Warbixinta Qaramada Midoobay ee loo yaqaanno 'Limiting Overshoot' ayaa sheegaysa in adduunku uu ku dhaqaaqayo 1.5 qalab Celsi oo ka badan heerka horumarka, taas oo ah xadka la isku raacay 2015-kii. Warbixintu waxay sheegtay in qorshayaasha hadda jira ee dalalka kala duwan ay aad uga fiican yihiin, isla markaana fulinta qorshayaashaas oo dhan ay aad u darran tahay.
Sidoo kale, warbixintu waxay sheegtay in khataraha ku saabsan biyaha iyo deegaanka dhinaca badda ay aad u weyn yihiin, gaar ahaan xadka biyaha iyo deegaanka dhinaca badda. Waxay sidoo kale sheegtay in khataraha musuqmaasuqa ee adduunku uu ku dhaqaaqayo 1.5 qalab Celsi oo ka badan heerka horumarka, taas oo ah xadka la isku raacay 2015-kii.

A new United Nations report titled Limiting Overshoot has confirmed that the world is on track to reach 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels within the next few years, a threshold agreed upon in the 2015 Paris Agreement. Conservation strategist Ayana Elizabeth Johnson says the findings demand immediate, decisive action rather than despair.
A Definitive Warning on Global Warming
The United Nations report, called Limiting Overshoot, found that the world will warm to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels in the next few years. This is a big deal. We've known we've been on track for that threshold, but this report is far more definitive than any data we have had so far.
The bleak status update comes just days after a melting glacier collapse in Nepal and Tibet, which killed more than 1,000 people with thousands still missing. The 1.5 degree limit was the target agreed to in the 2015 global agreement signed in Paris by just about every country in the world to limit climate change.
Weak Pledges and the Need for Urgent Policy Change
The U.N. report says that existing pledges from individual countries about their emission reductions are insufficient, and the implementation of those weak pledges is also weak. The U.N. report calls on all nations in the world to step it up.
Unfortunately, I think a lot of that has to do with policy because relying on the goodwill of fossil fuel executives doesn't seem to be a terribly effective strategy. And it was really wonderful to see the U.N. be extremely clear about that in a way that they haven't really in previous reports.
Ocean Risks and the Path to Climate Solutions
The U.N. report says that the risks for coral reefs are significant, and fisheries collapsing on coral reefs that hundreds of millions of people around the world depend on for their food security. The U.N. report says that the loss of coastal ecosystems due to development, due to sea level rise and storms is a concern.
But it's also really important to note that the ocean is a source of climate solutions as well from offshore renewable energy, restoring coastal ecosystems that can protect us from storm surges as well as absorb often more carbon than a tropical forest. I know the ocean is an incredibly important part of this climate puzzle.
