Le Creuset has unveiled a limited-edition Star Trek cookware range to mark six decades of the iconic science-fiction series, featuring cast-iron pots shaped like the Enterprise and Klingon vessels alongside themed kitchen accessories.
A Stellar Range of Space-Themed Kitchenware
The collection, now available for purchase, includes a 15-centimeter Communi-grator cheese grater priced at $68 (£52), an Enterprise round casserole pot at $500 (£425) with a Starfleet insignia knob, and a Klingon shallow casserole dish at $450 (£385) featuring a trefoil 'Heart of Virtue' knob. Inside the Enterprise NCC-1701 pot is the legend 'to boldly go,' while the Klingon dish offers an encouraging 'Qapla!' ('success' in Klingon).
Vulcan fans will find a $35 (£31) Spock ear mug with gold detailing, a $55 (£36) Spock hand spoon rest, and a $40 (£36) Vulcan salute oven mitt in signature Star Trek baby blue. The Galileo shuttlecraft casserole dish, priced at $150, holds 1.6 liters of space for culinary adventures.
Enterprise Casserole Dish Sent to the Edge of Space
In a bold marketing stunt, Le Creuset engaged Sent Into Space to launch the Enterprise casserole dish into the stratosphere atop a balloon taller than the White House. The pot remained aloft for 1 hour, 19 minutes, and 4 seconds, enduring temperatures as low as -63.4 degrees Celsius (-82.12 F) before parachuting back to Earth.
Sent Into Space cofounder Chris Rose noted that the team had to carefully balance the heavy cast-iron pot and coordinate with aviation authorities to avoid interfering with aircraft. The dish reached speeds exceeding 300 mph during reentry before landing safely in Lincolnshire, England.
