Ambassador Briefs Bureau on Housing Working Group
As Co-Chair of the Open-ended Expert Working Group on Adequate Housing for All (OEWG-H), alongside Azerbaijan's Ambassador Sultan Hajiyev, Amb. Jabril presented the Bureau with updates on preparations for the Working Group's upcoming third session.
The briefing highlighted ongoing efforts to advance the global agenda on adequate housing for all, underscoring Somalia's continued commitment to this critical area of international development.
UN-Habitat Updates Bureau on Key Urban Agenda Milestones
The meeting provided an opportunity for UN-Habitat to update the Bureau on the Baku Call to Action from WUF13, the midterm implementation of the New Urban Agenda, and the outcomes of the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) 2026.
Discussions emphasized the need to translate these commitments into concrete action and accelerate implementation of the 2030 Agenda, while sustaining political momentum for the New Urban Agenda through 2036.
Ambassador Congratulates China on Bureau Chairmanship
Amb. Jabril congratulated the Embassy of the People's Republic of China and H.E. Guo Haiyan on China's election as Chair of the Bureau, expressing confidence in the new leadership's ability to guide the Executive Board's work effectively.
The Ambassador wished the new Chair and all Bureau members success in their mandate, reflecting Somalia's diplomatic engagement and support for multilateral cooperation within the UN-Habitat framework.
