Doha, September 26, 2026 — Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development brought the second edition of QIYADA (Qatar Islamic Youth Aspiration and Development Assembly) to a close after two days of dialogue at Multaqa, Education City Student Center, drawing more than 1,300 young Muslims, researchers and thought leaders from across the region.
Conference Overview and Organizational Partners
The event, held under the theme 'Guided by Faith: Thriving in a Changing World', was organized by the Office of Wellness and Spiritual Life within Qatar Foundation's Higher Education division, with Qatar International Islamic Bank (QIIB) as official sponsor and the Ministry of Sports and Youth as participant sponsor.
Discussions centered on faith, identity and leadership, exploring how Muslim youth can navigate contemporary challenges, strengthen their role in serving communities and contribute actively to their future.
Keynote: Discipline and Leadership
Dr. Omar Suleiman, scholar and human rights activist, delivered a talk titled 'Discipline and Leadership', emphasizing that authentic leadership is rooted in self-discipline and the ability to direct efforts toward pressing issues and unmet needs within society.
He urged young people to remain focused on priorities and avoid distractions, noting that successful leaders look beyond minor details to focus on challenges others may overlook, working toward creating a lasting positive impact in their communities.
Keynote: The Fragility of a Leader
Dr. Hanan Ahmed Al Qattan, Founder and Director of the Etizan Center for Psychological, Educational, and Sharia Consultation and Training, addressed the concept of authentic leadership and the importance of honesty and self-awareness in building trust with others during her talk titled 'The Fragility of a Leader'.
She stressed that a true leader is not someone who conceals their vulnerabilities, but rather one who recognizes them and responds to them with awareness and responsibility, saying that empathizing with others and sharing in their challenges strengthens trust and reflects a deep understanding of the trust and responsibility inherent in leadership.
