Ciidamada carabinieri ee Talyaaniga, iyagoo kaashanaya koox gaar ah oo ilaalinaysa hiddaha dhaqanka, ayaa soo kabtay saddex sawir oo laga xaday Magnani Rocca Foundation. Tani waa guul, laakiin isla usbuucii tuugadii qaaday qaybo ka mid ah shaqooyinka Antonello da Messina ee Messina.
Xatooyadii Magnani Rocca oo La Helay
Koox tuug ah ayaa adeegsaday cagaf-cagaf si ay xayndaab u jebiyaan ka dibna laba tuug oo waji-xidhan ayaa galay Magnani Rocca Foundation, oo ah matxaf gaar ah oo qiyaastii 12 mayl u jirta magaalada Parma. Waxay ka soo baxeen daaqad albaab ah oo saddex sawir ka qaadeen, hawlgalkii oo dhan kamaraddu duubtay laakiin wuxuu qaaday waxyar uun ka yar saddexdaqiiqo.
Sida ay xaqiijisay warbixin, saddexda sawir ee qiimahoodu ahaa qiyaastii $10 milyan waxaa ka mid ahaa Still Life with Cherries ee Cézanne ($7 milyan), Les Poissons ee Renoir ($3.5 milyan) iyo aquatint Matisse ah oo ah Odalisque on the Terrace ($23,000). Baaritaankii waxaa horseeday carabinieri oo ay weheliyaan khubaro ilaalinaya hiddaha dhaqanka, sawirradiina waa la soo helay.
Xatooyadii Messina iyo Antonello da Messina
Tuugadii waxay ka gudbeen nidaamka digniinta ee Museo Interdisciplinare Regionale (MuMe) ee Messina, waxayna jebiyeen sanduuq ammaan. Waxay xadeen saddex ka mid ah shanta gudo ee badbaaday ee Polittico di San Gregorio ee Antonello; shaqadu markii hore lix gudo bay lahayd laakiin mid baa ku lumay dhulgariirkii 1908 ee Messina.
Waxa kale oo ay tuugadii xadeen sawir yar oo labada dhinac leh, mid ka mid ahna ku sawiran Maryan iyo Ilmaha, kan kalena Masiix, kaas oo dowladda gobolka Sicily ay iibsatay Christie's sanadkii 2003. Bishii Febraayo ee la soo dhaafay, dowladdii Talyaaniga waxay $14.9 milyan ku bixisay xarig New York si ay keento Ecce Homo ee Antonello, oo Sotheby's laga iibsaday oo Abruzzo lagu meelayn doono.
Ereyga Booliiska iyo Korodhka Tuugada Fanka
Sagaal qof oo u dhashay Moldova ayaa lagu daray baaritaanka xatooyadii March. Sida uu qabo bayaan booliis, "the thieves had experience in stealing, police said in a statement, but knew too little about the art market to sell the works". Tani waxay muujinaysaa in tuugadu aqoon yar ku leeyihiin suuqa fanka in kasta oo ay xariif u yihiin xatooyada.
In ka badan toban iyo shan xatooyo oo waaweyn ayaa la diiwaangeliyey tan iyo Janaayo 2025, taasoo keentay in Golaha Caalamiga ah ee Matxafyada uu la midoobo Interpol. Tusaale ahaan, Oktoobar 2025 tuugadii Louvre waxay qaadeen jawaher $100 milyan ka badan waxyar uun ka yar sideeddaqiiqo, halka Janaayo 2025 ay ku qaraxeen Drents Museum oo ay xadeen koofiyad dahab ah oo Romania ah.
Italian authorities reported the recovery of three million-dollar paintings stolen from a Parma-area museum, but a separate Sicilian museum lost priceless Renaissance panels in a daring night raid during a national holiday.
Parma Museum Theft Recovered After Three-Minute Raid
A gang used a tractor to batter down a fence before two masked burglars broke into the Magnani Rocca Foundation, a private museum about 12 miles from the northern Italian city of Parma. The thieves climbed in through a window door and grabbed three paintings off the wall before disappearing, with the entire operation caught on camera yet completed in under three minutes.
The roughly $10 million haul included Cézanne's Still Life with Cherries, worth an estimated $7 million, Renoir's Les Poissons with an approximate value of $3.5 million, and a Matisse aquatint, Odalisque on the Terrace valued at $23,000. Officials confirmed the paintings had been recovered during searches ordered by prosecutors, though the investigation remains open.
Messina Museum Loses Rare Antonello Panels in Holiday Raid
On a Saturday night during the Italian holiday Ferragosto, thieves bypassed the alarm system at Messina's Museo Interdisciplinare Regionale and broke open a security case. They made off with three of the five surviving panels from an altarpiece by Antonello known as the Polittico di San Gregorio, the only work by the artist that had never left his home town.
The thieves also purloined a small double-sided painting with the Virgin and Child on one side and Christ on the other, which the Sicilian regional government had bought from Christie's in 2003. Just this February, the Italian government spent $14.9 million at a New York auction to bring another Antonello work, Ecce Homo, back home.
Europe Sees Surge in Major Art Heists Since 2025
More than a dozen major art heists have been recorded since January 2025 alone, prompting the International Council of Museums to team up with Interpol in response. Among them was an October 2025 raid where thieves spent less than eight minutes stripping the Louvre's Apollo Gallery of jewels worth more than $100 million.
Earlier, in January 2025, a gang used explosives to blast apart a door at the Netherlands' Drents Museum before stealing a loaned 2,500-year-old Romanian gold helmet, which was only returned to Romanian authorities 14 months later. Interpol's Stolen Works of Art database contained more than 57,000 listed items, though the agency warns that plenty of stolen art never makes it into that count.
