Madaxa FIFA Gianni Infantino ayaa joojiyay qorshihiisii muranka dhaliyay ee ah in faa'iidada Koobka Adduunka la siiyo maalgeliyayaasha gaarka ah, taas oo ka dhalatay diiddo adduun ka dhex timid. UEFA ayaa horseed ka ahayd cadaadiskaas.
Diiddada Ururrada Kubadda Cagta
Guddoomiyaha UEFA ee Yurub ayaa sheegay in ay boykoti doonaan tartanka haddii iibintu socoto, taas oo ahayd hoggaanka diiddada caalamiga ah. Ururrada CONCACAF ee Waqooyiga Ameerika iyo Ururka Kubadda Cagta Aasiya ayaa sidoo kale ka soo horjeestay qorshaha.
Infantino wuxuu soo jeediyay abuurista shirkad $20 bilyan qiimo leh oo maamuli lahayd Koobka Adduunka iyada oo maalgeliyayaasha gaarka ah ay ku jiraan Joshua Kushner, walaalka yar ee sodoga madaxweynaha Mareykanka Donald Trump ee Jared Kushner. Diiddadu way sii kordhayseen ilaa Talaadadii.
Bayaanka Infantino iyo Isticmaalka
Jimce, Infantino wuxuu ku dhawaaqay bayaan uu ku wada joojinayo soo jeedintii. Wuxuu yiri: "Having listened carefully to all the views, it has become clear that the project has created divisions of a nature that, regardless of the level of support, are no longer in the interest of the objective set out in the first place".
Wuxuu ku daray: "Our purpose has always been — and will always be — to unite and improve. As a result, this proposal will not proceed." FIFA waxay markii hore ku andacootay in "no one is selling football" laakiin jimcaha laga tagay.
Istafaaxa Gudoomiyaha iyo Saamaynta
La taliyaha sare Carlos Cordeiro ayaa istiifaayay wuxuuna yiri: "I cannot stand by while FIFA considers selling a stake in the World Cup." COO Kevin Lamour ayaa AP u sheegay in shaqaalaha lagu khiyaameeyay, wuxuuna yiri "It is the project of one person".
Lamour wuxuu ku daray: "Not only must this project not go ahead … but the time has now come for football political leaders to ask themselves the right questions and make the right decisions." Infantino wuxuu doorasho ugu jiraa Maarso, laakiin Noofambar baa musharraxyo kale iman karaan.
Infantino ends private equity plan following UEFA boycott threat and resignations inside FIFA
FIFA President Gianni Infantino is dropping his divisive plan to sell World Cup profits to private equity after worldwide uproar against the scheme. The reversal follows opposition led by UEFA, which threatened to boycott the tournament.
Widespread federations' resistance
The pushback was led by European football's governing body UEFA, which said it would boycott the tournament if the sell off went ahead. North America's CONCACAF and the Asian Football Confederation also opposed the plan, widening the international rejection of the proposal.
Infantino had proposed creating a $20 billion company to run the World Cup with private investors including Joshua Kushner, the younger brother of US President Donald Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner. The backlash grew every day since Tuesday's announcement of the contested arrangement.
FIFA leadership steps back
In a statement on Friday, Infantino said he was abandoning the proposal. He stated: "Having listened carefully to all the views, it has become clear that the project has created divisions of a nature that, regardless of the level of support, are no longer in the interest of the objective set out in the first place".
He added: "Our purpose has always been — and will always be — to unite and improve. As a result, this proposal will not proceed". While FIFA insisted that 'no one is selling football,' senior advisor Carlos Cordeiro resigned on Friday and urged other senior staff to speak out.
Internal dissent and election risk
Cordeiro, a former Goldman Sachs banker who represented FIFA on the White House Task Force for the World Cup, said: "I cannot stand by while FIFA considers selling a stake in the World Cup". Hours later, COO Kevin Lamour told The Associated Press staff were deceived by Infantino's lack of openness.
Lamour wrote: "It is the project of one person" and "Not only must this project not go ahead … but the time has now come for football political leaders to ask themselves the right questions and make the right decisions". Up for reelection in March, Infantino may face challengers before the November deadline.
